“Social freedom”

This is the front page slogan of the Diaspora Project website. It is mainly portrayed as the privacy friendly Facebook alternative. It is based on decentralized servers hosting the open-source Diaspora software. These servers are called ‘pods’ and you can create a profile on any pod you like. As a community you support your own server by donating a couple of bucks. In exchange it is ad-free and besides, no one uses your data as a sales product. You can use it with the same ease as most social network websites and if you are into codes you can contribute to building the software on github. If you want to join the pod I’m on, click here and add me.

“AAAARG was created with the intention of developing critical discourse outside of an institutional framework. But rather than thinking of it like a new building, imagine scaffolding that attaches onto existing buildings and creates new architectures between them.” http://aaaaarg.org/
